It appears that the latest entry in NetherRealm Studios’ popular fighting game series, Mortal Kombat 1, will introduce a brand new seasonal single player mode called Invasions.
Reddit user DeffersonCamargo shared an image they got a hold of via a Brazilian retailer, which appears to be the rear side of the box cover for the latest entry in the Mortal Kombat series. According to the details stated on the cover, Mortal Kombat 1 will offer a brand new single player mode called Invasions, which is said to feature seasonal content.
Based on a rough translation, the box cover states that players will travel through the realms of Mortal Kombat, facing invasions of each season in this brand new single player experience. No further information is mentioned regarding the mode, though the Reddit user pointed out that this new mode will be replacing the Krypt from past entries in the series. From the sound of things, the Invasions mode is some sort of a live service mode that will advance the plot after the main single player mode with new characters and story beats. It remains to be seen whether this is actually the case, however. NetherRealm Studios has yet to comment on the box art leak.
Previously, a roster leak for Mortal Kombat 1 had confirmed a total of 19 playable characters. GameFAQs message boards member r00000r is known for accurately leaking information regarding Mortal Kombat 11 in the past, including details on the game’s story, DLC fighters and the Aftermath expansion. Additionally, his Mortal Kombat 1 story leak script was backed by another leaker, Fateunknown, who had correctly stated that Kenshi and Johnny Cage would be seen in the recent gameplay reveal at Summer Games Fest with ties to the Yazuka. A fake leaker had recently sent the GameFAQs member a list of characters, and he responded by pointing out which are not featured in the game. As a result, he indirectly confirmed the remaining 19 characters on the list.
