New details as well as fresh artwork for a brand new Silent Hill game, titled Silent Hill: The Short Message, have surfaced on the internet.

Silent Hill: The Short Message has recently been rated in Taiwan after also getting rated in Korea. New details and fresh artwork for the game have appeared via the Taiwan Rating Board, suggesting that this is an official new entry in the Silent Hill series. Based on the accompanying description, it will star a protagonist named Anita.

According to the plot synopsis, Anita comes to an abandoned apartment building to meet her friend Maya, and somehow wakes up to find herself trapped in it. As a result, she must escape from her own fears and the monsters lurking in the hallway, find out the hidden truth behind the trauma, and try to escape before her psychological trauma consumes her will to live.

It appears that the game was given a PG-15 rating in Taiwan due to the inclusion of violence, horror, and offensive language. As of writing, no release date has been approved for the game. It has only been rated for the PS5 thus far, which likely means that it is exclusive to the console.

Besides this Silent Hill project, Konami is also working on the Silent Hill 2 remake. Bloober Team is in charge of the development of the survival horror title. The game is set to arrive on the PlayStation 5 and Windows platforms. It will be the first major release in the Silent Hill series since Silent Hill: Downpour (2012). The game’s story focuses on James Sunderland, who travels to Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his late wife informing him that she is waiting for him at their “special place.” The game will feature an “over-the-shoulder” third-person perspective, with an improved combat system.
