This guide will help you find out how to play as the Blue Toad in New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe for Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo is still releasing old Wii U games ported to the Nintendo Switch. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe was a divisive title on its release but despite all this time, it is still incredibly fun which is a testament to its quality. The transition from the Nintendo Wii U to Nintendo Switch has resulted in some additional restrictions for some strange reasons, even though it should be the other way around.
I should add that if you are playing as a four-player co-op party, then you might face an issue with how the difficulty feels dumbed down, but that is mostly due to the lack of playable characters leaving the last player stuck with an “easy” one like Nabbit or Toadette. The four playable characters in the multiplayer mode don’t offer much variety aside from the ones that give an “easy” difficulty, but Blue Toad is also playable in addition to the default Yellow Toad.
How To Play As Blue Toad In New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe?
There are a total of 4 playable characters that return, while one new addition is Toadette. The reason why the four-player co-op feels dumbed down is that Yellow Toad now simply offers a palette swap for Blue Toad.
To pick the Blue Toad, you have to select Yellow Toad and then press the L or ZL button to switch to Blue Toad. This doesn’t count as a separate character now so the fourth player will have to pick from Nabbit or Toadette, which is unfortunate, but hopefully can be patched in with an update.
