Nintendo Switch is the most popular console for Devolver Digital, with over 9 million units sold on the platform.
In its investor presentation for the year 2024, Devolver Digital has revealed that its titles are more popular on the Nintendo Switch than any other console, with over 9 million units sold on the platform. The company looks to continue its momentum on the console’s successor, the Switch 2, with upcoming releases like STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions, Human Fall Flat 2, and Enter the Gungeon 2.
The report also shared that the overall revenue for Devolver Digital went up 13% Year over Year to $104.8 million, with growth driven by the success of leading titles, strong back catalogue and improvement in platform deals. Meanwhile, gross margin expanded to 28.7% due to higher first-party IP contribution and lower marketing spend. Tight cost control kept operating expenses flat, lifting margins. The company’s third-party average cost per title is reducing, reflecting its decision to focus spending on titles with smaller budgets.
Devolver Digital’s back catalogue mix increased to 88% of total revenues, driven by strong performance of key titles and a new releases back-weighted to the second half of 2024. Back Catalogue levers include porting to new platforms, including mobile, localization in other languages, capitalizing on sequel and franchise release momentum, platform bundle agreements, publisher sales and discounting, Chinese domesticated games, and paid Downloadable Content.
With regards to sales updates for key titles, Devolver Digital revealed that the much loved VR title, Gorn, sold over 1.5 million units to date. Meanwhile, Astroneer has been played by over 13 million individuals, and the game continues to maintain an active community. Additionally, Enter the Gungeon has now sold over 5 million units to date, with over 500,000 copies sold in March, 2025.
Devolver Digital expects to launch at least 13 titles during 2025, including Starseeker, System Era Softworks’ next major project, and other unannounced games. The company will continue to invest more heavily into first party IP and long-tail expandable games.
