Atlus has announced Persona 5 Royal and confirmed details around this new project. This will be an enhanced release of Persona 5 and it is out this year in Japan and 2020 in the West.
Persona 5 Royal is confirmed to be an expanded version of the original game. It won’t be available as a DLC upgrade so it will be sold as a new game. There is a new female main character Kasumi Yoshizawa who is a transfer student. She will partner up with The Phantom Thieves for her own quest. The game will support PS4 Pro so expect improved resolution and visuals.
There is a lot of new features and plenty of additional content that makes it the same enhanced release as Persona 4: The Golden. Persona 5 Royal will be out on October 31, 2019, for Japan. Atlus USA has confirmed that the game will be localized but the English release didn’t get a confirmed release date just a vague release window of 2020.
Persona 5 Royal expands on the extraordinary world of Persona 5,introducing a host of new characters, gameplay features, and diving deeper into the personal lives, as well as the trials and tribulations, of the enigmatic (and exceedingly-stylish) Phantom Thieves. Players will even get to experience an all-new third semester at Shujin Academy that’s never been seen before!
New opening and ending music have been composed by Meguro. There will be new a confidant, new social links, and explorable areas. The story portion is expanded with a third semester which will take the story of phantom thieves even further.
More details on the game will be revealed on May 9th, 2019. The official website for it is live now and it is listed as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, which means there is not going to be a Nintendo Switch version. Joker has been released as a DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate earlier this month.
