Nintendo and Game Freak’s role-playing game, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, is now the second best-selling game in the series.
The top selling title sales stats on the official website for Nintendo Japan has been updated, revealing that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is now the second best-selling game in the series. The game has now sold more than 26.79 million units across the globe, surpassing Pokemon Sword and Shield’s lifetime sales of 26.72 million units.

Pokemon Red, Green, and Blue remains the top selling game in the series, with 31.38 million units sold. It is followed by Pokemon Scarlet and Violet with 26.79 million units, Pokemon Sword and Shield with 26.72 million units, Pokemon Gold and Silver with 23.7 million units, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl with 17.67 million units, Pokemon X and Y with 16.78 million units, Pokemon Sun and Moon with 16.33 million units, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire with 16.22 million units, Pokemon Black and White with 15.64 million units, Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee with 15.07 million units, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shinning Pearl with 15.06 million units, Pokemon Legends: Arceus with 15 million units, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire with 14.67 million units, Pokemon Yellow with 14.64 million units, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver with 12.72 million units, Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen with 12 million units, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon with 9.26 million units, Pokemon Black2 and White2 with 8.25 million units, Pokemon Platinum with 7.69 million units, Pokemon Emerald with 7.06 million units, and Pokemon Crystal with 6.3 million units.
A few months earlier, Famitsu reported that sales Pokemon Scarlet and Violet had exceeded 8.3 million copies in Japan, making it the best selling Pokemon game in the country. These sales figures were as of November 18, 2024, exactly 2 years after the game’s release on November 18, 2022. Up until that point, Pokemon Red and Green was the best-selling Pokemon game in the country. This was the first time in the series’ 28-year history that this record was broken.
