Xbox Series X is being previewed by various media outlets. According to some reports, the console is a lot quieter but, this doesn’t mean it stays cold.
Microsoft has started to send Xbox Series X to press for preview purposes and to get more coverage on its features, games, and hardware. As more influences are starting to get their hands on the console, we are getting some reports that while the console is quieter, it can turn hot as well.

The first case of such a report comes from French WebTV, LeStream, which talked about their experience with the Xbox Series X in a live stream seen on Twitch.
“I don’t know if we can talk about this but, we have the Series X here and the Series X is hot, it is hot. It makes 0 noise but on the other hand, it gives off heat, it’s violent. I mean it’s violent… yeah, yeah it’s violent. You can warm up thanks to the Series X, clearly. From a sound point of view, it’s good but from a heat point of view, it’s something,” says one of the crew members for LeStream Web TV.
Another member adds that the cooling fan acts as a diffuser that blows out hot air. “It will send out air, a small air diffuser.” Interestingly, they were not allowed to talk about next-generation games as of yet so this likely only covers running backward compatible games on the Xbox Series X.

The second case is from BeastCast (around 28:45 mark) featuring the crew from GiantBomb. During the podcast, Jeff Bakkalar mentions the same thing when he talks about his experience with the Xbox Series X. He mentions how the expansion drive can get really hot even in the Standby mode. He also talks about the console blowing exhaust air even in the Standby mode. He praises the quietness of the console just like the majority of the other influencers.
