A new rumour suggests Capcom is planning large post-launch story expansions for Resident Evil Requiem and Resident Evil Veronica as part of its current release strategy.
The claim comes from industry insider AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, who said Capcom has recently shifted its focus towards substantial downloadable story content rather than developing Resident Evil spin-offs.
In a post on X, Dusk Golem wrote, “Capcom’s temporary solution to there being no spin-offs in the works is they’ve in the last few months decided to focus on major several hour long DLC story expansions for Resident Evil Requiem & Veronica, & possibly future RE titles to fit into current pipeline.”
He later clarified that the reported expansions are not expected to arrive shortly after launch, adding, “But I will clarify these DLCs are coming out way after the games & this is a recent development & choice. Requiem’s story DLC is eyeing a late 2027 release date at present, Veronica’s will probably be somewhere in 2028 over a year after the game came out too.”
If accurate, the report suggests Resident Evil Requiem could receive its story expansion in late 2027, while Resident Evil Veronica would follow sometime in 2028.
Resident Evil Requiem has been confirmed to receive story DLC, but details about it have not yet been released. Meanwhile, Resident Evil Veronica is scheduled to launch in early 2027.
