Resident Evil Requiem May Receive a Lengthy Story Expansion, Says Insider

A new rumour from long-time Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem claims Capcom is planning to invest in larger story expansions for Resident Evil Requiem DLC and future entries in the franchise.

Posting on X, Dusk Golem said: “Capcom is investing into doing more lengthy story DLC in the future of RE, of the length & ambition as Separate Ways/Shadow of Rose, for both Requiem & future RE titles.”

According to the insider, Capcom is looking at these larger expansions as a way to bridge the gap between major Resident Evil releases. He claimed the company has struggled to maintain side-game releases during the RE Engine era and is instead focusing on story DLC that can serve as smaller, more experimental experiences.

Dusk Golem also said he has heard that Resident Evil Requiem DLC is currently planned to launch after Resident Evil Veronica Remake. When asked why, he replied: “From what I’m hearing, I think they decided to go ambitious with the DLC, Veronica is ‘all hands on deck’ at the moment to see if they can get it finished for Q1 2027 (they will delay it to Q2 if needed, but want to see if they can reach that goal), & Requiem’s DLC they are responding to a lot of the feedback from post-RE9’s release, which has inspired them to go more ambitious with the DLC, thus more work.”

The insider further claimed that the move towards larger expansions was not part of a long-term strategy but a response to player demand. He said Capcom typically plans around five years ahead but regularly adjusts projects based on development challenges and community feedback, adding that the studio’s flexibility has contributed to the series’ continued success.
