The Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code Veronica remakes won’t be as “ambitious” as Resident Evil 4 Remake, based on the latest report.
Known insider Dusk Golem (also known as AestheticGamer) took to Discord to share that the Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code Veronica remakes won’t be as “ambitious” as Resident Evil 4 Remake. He added that they are the only Resident Evil remakes that are actively in development.
According to the insider, Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code Veronica were chosen for remakes due to a number of reasons. Among other things, he said that Capcom does not really plan for there to be a remake as “ambitious” as Resident Evil 4. He referred to the latter as the “crown jewel” of remakes and the most challenging one to tackle in scale, scope, and expectation. He further added that Resident Evil 9 is also currently in development at Capcom.
Recently, the same insider had taken to Twitter/X to debunk prior rumors about the development of Resident Evil 5 remake being shelved by Capcom USA over racial concerns. The rumor had claimed that Capcom USA had bigger input in the development of the remake, and that the source code from the studio’s offices was lost in the tsunami. Golem stated that he didn’t believe the rumors in big part since he knows for a “fact” that several parts of it are wrong. He clarified that the claims regarding Capcom losing the source code for the old titles in the survival horror seriesResident Evil titles and the company being in the impact zone of the tsunami that hit Japan in 2011 are both absolutely false, as are other things mentioned in the rumor. He also does not believe the Resident Evil 9 rumors that had been making the rounds a week or two ago.
