Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Prequel Leaks Ahead of Official Xbox Showcase Reveal

by Ali Haider

A new chapter in the A Plague Tale series appears to have leaked prematurely ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, thanks to an unlisted Threads post from publisher Focus Entertainment. The post, which surfaced nearly two days ago, reveals a game titled Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, which is reportedly a prequel focused on Sophia, one of the supporting characters from A Plague Tale: Requiem.

The brief promotional text reads: “Unravel ancient secrets, and confront a mythical creature at the heart of a devastating curse. Plunge into Sophia’s original story in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.”

While the post (backup) is not visible when browsing Focus Entertainment’s Threads profile directly, it has been indexed by Google and is accessible via search or direct link. This suggests the content was published unintentionally and may have been scheduled ahead of time in preparation for a formal announcement.

The timing of the leak aligns closely with the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase, set to air on Sunday, June 8. The event, which begins at 10 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Eastern / 6 p.m. UK, will be followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct, offering a focused presentation on Obsidian’s next RPG.

Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have already delivered two acclaimed titles in the A Plague Tale franchise—Innocence and Requiem—both of which were released on Xbox Game Pass. Given this track record, it is plausible that Resonance will also launch on Game Pass, although nothing official has been confirmed.

With the reveal likely intended for the Xbox showcase, it remains to be seen whether the accidental post will alter any plans. However, the presence of Resonance in the lead-up to the event adds momentum to what is already shaping up to be a major day for Xbox and its publishing partners.
