Sony Pictures has confirmed that the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda has officially wrapped filming, marking a key milestone for the high-profile project. The update was shared during CinemaCon 2026, as reported by IGN.

The film, a collaboration between Nintendo and Sony Pictures, completed its primary filming phase in New Zealand in April 2026. Directed by Wes Ball, known for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the project brings together notable figures, including Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad as producers.

The cast includes Benjamin Evan Ainsworth in the role of Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda. With filming now complete, the production will move into an extended post-production phase as the team works to realize the world of Hyrule on screen.

While story details remain limited, Ball has previously indicated that the film aims to deliver a grounded yet serious fantasy experience while still retaining the magical identity associated with the franchise.

The project is currently scheduled for a global theatrical release on May 7, 2027.
