Casting Calls For Rockstar Games’ Canceled Agent Have Apparently Been Leaked

Casting calls for Rockstar Games’ canceled stealth action game, Agent, have apparently been leaked online.

Years after the cancellation of Rockstar Games’ Agent, Reddit user edward1650_ appears to have found details on the game’s leaked casting calls. Originally announced by the developer during PlayStation’s E3 2009 press conference, the title was set to be a PlayStation-exclusive spy thriller set during the Cold War. After the initial reveal, the game slowly vanished from public view, becoming one of the industry’s most mysterious canceled projects.

Rockstar agent casting calls

The Reddit user’s investigation began while researching material for a retrospective article on Agent. During that search, they uncovered a little-known article from June 2016 claiming that actress Embeth Davidtz, known for films such as Matilda, had apparently been cast as a character named “Penny” in Agent. At the time, the claim appeared dubious as no other sources mentioned the role. However, things became more intriguing when the Reddit user found a 2017 Pastebin post shared by a burner Reddit account called Tommy_Vercetti_Sr, containing alleged leaked casting calls for Agent. One character listed in the document was named “Penny Moffat.”

The Reddit user pointed out that “Moffat” is the maiden name of Dan and Sam Houser’s mother, Geraldine Moffat, an actress whose career began during the 1960s, the same era in which Agent was reportedly set. The reference may have been an internal homage by Rockstar Games’ writers. The post also pointed out that the character descriptions in the leaked document closely resemble the style Rockstar Games used in past casting notices for projects like Project Rush, the codename for Grand Theft Auto V. The descriptions are allegedly brief, intentionally vague, and occasionally humorous, matching the developer’s usual approach to secretive casting documents.

Based on the leak, only two characters had voice recordings completed i.e. “Penelope (Penny)” and “Generalissimo,” suggesting that they played major roles in the canceled game’s story.
