Tekken 8 producer Naoya Yasuda and longtime series veteran Katsuhiro Harada have addressed recent community speculation surrounding the franchise’s development team, emphasizing that Tekken’s future is being shaped by a collective effort rather than individual developers.
In a statement shared on social media, Yasuda stressed that game development is the result of collaboration across multiple departments and that the direction of Tekken remains unchanged despite ongoing discussions among fans regarding personnel changes.
“Games are built by large teams. Each section interacts with and complements the others, coming together to create a single product,” Yasuda wrote. He added that the future of the game is determined “not by the comings and goings of specific individuals or rumors, but by the continuous efforts of the entire team and the feedback from all of you.”
Yasuda also encouraged players to continue using the Tekken Dev Feedback Portal and community channels, stating that the development team reviews player feedback and uses it to guide future improvements. According to the producer, “There are no changes to the project’s long-term plans. Milestone by milestone, the team will continue moving forward.”
Former Tekken franchise producer Katsuhiro Harada echoed a similar message while responding to community discussions about recent updates and the departure of key staff members.
Harada clarified that work on the latest update had been underway since last year and involved multiple directors, including Kohei Ikeda, also known as Nakatsu, and Yasuki Nakabayashi before they left the company. He pushed back against claims that individual developers were solely responsible for the update or that their departures signaled broader changes for the franchise.
“Games are made by teams. Rather than focusing on specific individuals, I would appreciate it if people evaluated the team as a whole,” Harada said.
The veteran developer also noted that much of the speculation circulating online about the project and the game industry is inaccurate. “I also see a variety of speculation and analysis from the community. Unfortunately, most of it is not accurate,” he wrote.
Harada explained that the recent update was the result of a long-running development process involving numerous team members and emphasized that players should recognize the contributions of the wider development staff rather than attributing successes or shortcomings to a handful of named individuals.
While neither Yasuda nor Harada revealed new details regarding future Tekken content, both messages appear aimed at reassuring the community that the franchise’s roadmap remains intact. Yasuda explicitly stated that long-term plans have not changed, while Harada’s comments focused on correcting misconceptions about the development process and the role of former team members in recent updates.
The statements come amid increased discussion among fans following recent departures within the Tekken team, with Bandai Namco’s developers seeking to shift attention back toward the ongoing work of the broader development group and the feedback-driven evolution of Tekken 8.
