Nintendo has announced that Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is now available digitally on Nintendo Switch 2, bringing enhanced visuals, performance improvements, and a range of new content to the acclaimed RPG.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition runs at up to 4K resolution on compatible televisions and full HD resolution in handheld mode, while maintaining 60 frames per second gameplay. Alongside the technical upgrades, players can look forward to several new additions designed to expand the experience.
Among the new features is a high-speed vehicle that allows players to travel across the game’s expansive environments more quickly. The release also introduces racing modes that reward players with in-game items, as well as new equipment designs. In addition, Heart-to-Heart scenes have received newly recorded voiceover content.
Players who already own Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition on the original Nintendo Switch can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition through a paid upgrade pack. Pre-orders for upgrade packs are currently available.
Nintendo also confirmed that the other entries in the trilogy will receive Nintendo Switch 2 Editions later this year. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is scheduled to launch digitally on July 30, while Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will follow on Dec. 3.
Physical editions will arrive later than the digital release of the first game. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will receive its physical launch on July 30, followed by Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on Oct. 1 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on Dec. 3.
