The duration of each campaign playthrough in THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive’s Alone in the Dark has been revealed, based on the latest information.
Speaking during an interview, Alone in the Dark Associate Producer at THQ Nordic, Andreas Schmiedecker, revealed that the duration of each campaign playthrough in the game will be between 6 to 10 hours, with the combined length of both campaigns being “at least” twice as much.
According to Schmiedecker, the studio has targeted a playtime of 6 to 10 hours for one campaign. For the full story experience, he expects players to play through the game at least twice. He also confirmed that THQ Nordic is committed to the franchise in the long run, and is interested in exploring a potential follow-up based on the upcoming reboot’s reception. A free demo for the game, titled “Grace in the Dark: Prologue”, was released for all platforms in May 2023. The full game is scheduled for release on October 25, 2023, on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
Alone in the Dark is an upcoming survival horror game developed by Pieces Interactive and published by THQ Nordic. The game serves as a remake of the 1992 PC title of the same name, which marked the beginning of the Alone in the Dark series. Alone in the Dark’s storyline revolves around Emily Hartwood (played by Jodie Comer) and private investigator Edward Carnby (played by David Harbour).
Together, they embark on a journey to Derceto Manor, a residence for the mentally fatigued, in order to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Emily’s uncle, Jeremy Hartwood. The game will put players in an over-the-shoulder third-person camera perspective that is reminiscent of the perspective in recent remakes in the Resident Evil franchise. Combat mechanics allow players to engage in battles using firearms or melee weapons, as showcased in the reveal trailer.
