Anthem and Dragon Age 4 Lead Producers Leave Bioware

Veteran industry developer Bioware has a long legacy in the games industry but they had to face two big departures recently for Anthem and Dragon Age 4.

First up is the lead producer of Anthem, Ben Irving, who left Bioware recently. He shared his farewell message on Twitter confirming his departure.

“After 8 amazing years at BioWare I have made the decision to move on and have accepted an exciting opportunity at another gaming company, ” said Irving in a tweet.

“I believe Anthem has a bright future – there is a great team working on it and I look forward to following its progress (and playing it!) from the sidelines.”

While he is leaving the role of producer at Anthem, a small team is still behind to continue working on updates for the game. They finally released the first major content update for Anthem with the Cataclysm event. It was also received favorably by the community.

This was followed by the news of the departure of the lead producer of the upcoming Dragon Age 4. This game was just teased at The Game Awards. It is still a long way off from release and there hasn’t been anything substantial shown for it so far.

Fernando Melo has acted as the lead producer of Dragon Age Origins 1 and 2. He was also working on the new Dragon Age but announced his departure with a tweet.

“Today was my last day at BioWare. After 12 years.. that’s a heck of a lot of feels, ” said Fernando. “To be clear, this is my own decision. I’ve been wanting to take some time to disconnect and explore a couple ideas for next chapter in my career, ” he clarified.

Fernando Melo worked at Bioware for 12 years while Ben Irving had spent eight years at the company. Both of these were seniors who worked on a lot of projects but decided to part ways with Bioware. The company is also coming under criticism after two back to back failures with Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem.
