Death Stranding Sequel Would Have To Start From Zero, Says Kojima

Death Stranding is finally available for the PS4 and should launch on PC in Summer 2020. Hideo Kojima has now talked about developing a potential sequel.

Death Stranding was a brand new IP that was developed by Kojima Productions under the direction of Hideo Kojima. He made the game after leaving Konami. He worked on Metal Gear Solid V at Konami before leaving them to start his own studio with help of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

In a new interview with Vulture, Hideo Kojima has expressed his interest in working with Norman Reedus again. They became close friends when working on Death Stranding and while he would like to work on a potential sequel to Death Stranding with Norman Reedus in the lead role again, he said that it would require him to “start from zero.”

As a new IP, the game has a lot of interesting ideas. It supports online multiplayer to create a social environment where players are encouraged to explore and build various structures that can be used by other players online. The game also carries the trademark Kojima-directed cutscenes and a convoluted storyline with a post-apocalyptic theme.

The game also had a star-studded cast fronted by Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Tommie Earl Jenkins, Lindsey Wagner, Guillermo Del Toro, and Troy Baker. It launched on November 8 for PS4 and it is currently planned for a Summer 2020 launch on PC.
