Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to be a massive game that spans two discs. The file size of the remake has been hinted at through a promotional box art.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s story will span across two discs. This was confirmed by the producer of the game, Yoshinori Kitase, in an interview during E3 last year. Since it was already known that the game will launch on two discs, the large file size was expected from it.

Ahead of the launch of the game, a promotional box art has been shared online which also lists Final Fantasy VII Remake file size on it. This box art points towards the game requiring around 100 GB of hard disk space, or roughly the same as Red Dead Redemption 2.
There are not many games that ship on two discs and Final Fantasy 7 Remake is one of the rare ones that is launching on multiple discs. There appears to be a lot of pre-rendered cutscenes, which no doubt has contributed to the file size.
Final Fantasy VII Remake file size is still not officially listed or updated on the PlayStation Store. Usually, when the game gets closer to launch, file size is updated to reflect the hard disk space required. This is not the case for the remake so we only have the box art to go for now.
