Super Smash Bros Ultimate Update 6.1.1 Is Live, Here Are The Patch Notes

Super Smash Bros Ultimate has been updated to version 6.1.1 today by Nintendo in a surprise move. This update mainly adds support for upcoming content.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate post-launch DLC support is almost near its end of the first phase. The fighter pass that was revealed when the game launched back in 2018 has now just one last fighter left in place. Nintendo has confirmed that they will release more fighter passes in the future so expect to see more characters getting added to the game.

The new update for Super Smash Bros Ultimate was released today. The official patch notes were shared on the website by Nintendo as seen below.

  • Support for the upcoming Dark Samus and Richter amiibo figures has been implemented.

So far, there are only four fighters that have been added to the game post-launch with the fighter pass. One new fighter was Piranha Plant that was available for free at launch as a pre-order bonus. As for the rest, Joker from Persona 5, Banjo Kazooie, Terry Bogard, and Dragon Quest Hero were the four new DLC fighters.

The identity of the last fighter is a mystery for now but this hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about it. The update that was released today mainly seems to add support for Dark Samus and Richter amiibo figures that will be available to purchase later. It is also possible that this update adds support for the fifth fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

There were rumors about a new possible Nintendo Direct but that turned out to be for Pokémon. This direct will happen on January 9th but fans are still hopeful about a proper Nintendo Direct either in January or February ahead of the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
