Gameplay footage from Game Science’s upcoming action role-playing game, Black Myth: Wukong, has leaked, and the director has asked fans to avoid spoilers.

Game Science founder and CEO, Feng Ji, took to social media to address the recent Black Myth: Wukong gameplay leak and the influx of spoilers regarding the game’s story. He said that he’s in a situation where he can’t say anything and isn’t sure how to address everything.

Ji mentioned that Game Science had already made it very clear that those who are looking for a 1:1 remake of the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West will be disappointed in finding a different story. According to him, the charm of the story comes from the curiosity of the audience. He said that the reason why everyone can resonate with it is because they don’t know which characters will appear in the story, where their conflicts come from, and what their respective motivations and endings are.

The Game Science CEO mentioned that, as a product that has been “forced” to promote for a full four years, the settings and content of Black Myth: Wukong have been seriously overdrawn from the beginning. He said that safeguarding the mystery and surprise of the final product under the premise of so much content being released is a headache for the entire development team.

Ji had three recommendations for those looking to play Black Myth: Wukong at launch. Firstly, he asked potential day one players to avoid watching the leaked content involving spoilers, because it will not make the final experience any better. Secondly, he asked those who do plan on checking out spoilers to be respectful towards those who wish to remain spoiler-free, and to not spread and talk about such content. Lastly, he asked all those who have friends who want to play the game at launch and wish to remain spoiler-free to help them in achieving this.

Ji ended his statement by expressing his confidence in Black Myth: Wukong. He said that no matter how much leaked content fans have seen in advance (unintentionally or forced), the game will still bring them unprecedented feelings and plenty of enjoyment.
