Infinity Ward’s next entry in the Call of Duty Modern Warfare series, Modern Warfare 4, will feature omnimovement, wallrunning, and classic maps from 2011’s Modern Warfare 3.
According to known Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope, Infinity Ward’s next game, Modern Warfare 4, is currently scheduled for release in late 2026. They also shared that the development team will be utilizing omnimovement and wall running. Both mechanics are also rumored to be featured in 2025’s Call of Duty title.
The Call of Duty insider also revealed that Infinity Ward will also be remastering a majority of the classic maps from 2011’s original Modern Warfare 3 for the upcoming Modern Warfare 4 alongside brand new original maps.
Furthermore, the leaker cautioned that the above information is subject to change based on data, feedback and other factors, as Fall 2026 is a long ways away from now. That said, these are the studio’s current plans. They mentioned that Infinity Ward is looking to avoid making the same mistake it had made with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
Previously, the same Call of Duty insider had claimed that Sledgehammer Games is slated to lead its own entry in the Call of Duty series in 2027. According to them, the game will comes after Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty title in 2026, Modern Warfare 4. They clarified that the Sledgehammer Games’ title is not a Year 2 Modern Warfare game like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. The insider further stated that they are unclear at this point whether the 2027 Call of Duty title will end up being Advanced Warfare 2 or something brand new. They said that they’ll have an update in this regard once they have more clarity. As for the future of Call of Duty in general, the insider said that Microsoft has set up a new committee under Activision for the first-person shooter series.
