Cyberpunk 2077 is supposed to get online multiplayer although that hasn’t panned out yet. CDPR offered a comment on their plans recently.

Speaking during an earnings call (transcript), Adam Kiciński, president of CD Projekt Red, mentions that they are planning to gradually roll out multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077.

“The plan remains the same; we’re planning to add multiplayer functionality in the future to both franchises, including Cyberpunk, gradually, ” said Adam.

“We’re not revealing which franchise will be the first to receive such functionality, but the first attempt will be something we can learn from, and then we can add more and more – so, step and step, we want to open our single-player experiences to mutliplayer, but we want to add such features gradually.”

Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to get a multiplayer mode but details around it were never shared by CD Projekt Red. Based on these recent comments, it might be still coming out but perhaps they are planning to release the next-generation update first which is planned for the first half of 2022.

CDPR is also working on multiple new projects that are still in the research & development phase. They are planning to start allocating more people to these projects once they are done with support for CP 2077 which also includes an expansion in 2022.
