Future game projects at CI Games include Lords of the Fallen sequel, Death of the Fallen, and an open world survival game, Gate to Gehenna.
CI Games has a number of new projects in development, based on company public presentations, project trademarks, and job listings (via). The upcoming projects are Lords of the Fallen sequel, Death of the Fallen, an open world survival game, Gate to Gehenna, a new title in the Sniper Ghost Warrior series, and a new multiplayer PvE tactical FPS codenamed Project Scorpio.
The trademark for Death of the Fallen was filed on January 3rd 2024. It is the sequel to 2023 soulslike game Lords of The Fallen and is being developed by the same studio, Hexworks. It is currently planned for release in 2026. It is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 for PC and current-gen consoles. The developer claims that it is ‘built around more ambitious gameplay options for wider audience appeal’.
Meanwhile, the trademark for three possible variants of the open world survival game project, Island: Gate to Gehenna, Gate to Gehenna, and Gehenna) were filed on January 18th 2023. It is a brand new IP that is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, and is planned for release in 2025 on PC and current-gen consoles. The description in one of the job listings for this project stated that the developer is bringing a unique twist on the formula, both in terms of mechanics and the environmental challenges set for the player.
Initially, the project was being developed in collaboration between third party studio Batfields and internal studio Hexworks. On August 25, 2023, however, CI Games terminated the production agreement with Batfields. Development has since been handed over to Underdog Studio. It was mentioned in 2022 that releasing the game in Early Access is possible, but it’s unknown if the developer will go ahead with it. According to two Batfields employees, the game will be announced in 2024. However, since that studio is no longer working on the game, it’s unknown if this will still be the case.
The new title in the Sniper Ghost Warrior series as well as Project Scorpio are both being developed in Unreal Engine 5 by Underdog Studio. The latter is said to be a premium multiplayer PvE tactical first person shooter. Post-launch, it may adopt the GAAS model, with possible in-game purchase, expansions and events.
Additionally, in 2023, CI Games filed for the trademark Blade of Fate. However, it was initially filed in 2016, before the release of the mobile game originally called Lord of the Fallen: Blade of Fates. Since then, the publisher has refiled the trademark in 2019, and again in 2023. It’s likely that the developer has plans for a new mobile title sometime soon, or it wishes to retain the trademark for future use.
