Dead by Daylight celebrated its 10th anniversary with a major event in Montreal, where Behaviour Interactive unveiled a wave of upcoming content, gameplay features, collaborations, and a fresh update on the franchise’s upcoming film adaptation.
Thousands of fans gathered in Montreal’s Old Port for a day of panels, meet-and-greets, artwork showcases, photo opportunities, and developer presentations. During the event, the studio outlined its plans for the future of the long-running multiplayer horror title, revealing new Chapters, gameplay initiatives, and crossover content scheduled for the coming months and years.
Among the biggest announcements was a reminder that Jason Voorhees will officially join the game’s roster with the release of Dead by Daylight: Jason on June 16 across all platforms. Behaviour also unveiled Dead by Daylight: The Life Road, a new Survivor-focused Chapter featuring Shane Wiigwaas, the game’s first Indigenous Survivor. That Chapter is set to launch on June 25.
The studio also confirmed that Art the Clown from the Terrifier franchise will enter The Entity’s Realm later this year through Dead by Daylight: Terrifier, which is scheduled for release in November. Before that, players can look forward to Dead by Daylight: Chorus of Sin in August, a Chapter developed entirely in collaboration with the game’s community. Looking further ahead, Behaviour announced plans for a 2027 Chapter based on The Casting of Frank Stone, the narrative-driven title set in the Dead by Daylight universe.
Beyond new characters and Chapters, Behaviour shared details on several long-term gameplay initiatives. A large-scale visual overhaul is currently planned for 2027, bringing updated character models, expanded animations, more detailed facial expressions, and significant improvements to maps and environments. The update will also introduce enhanced lighting, textures, fog effects, and a stronger visual presence for The Entity. For the first time in the game’s history, dynamic weather systems are being added, including light rain, heavy rain, and storms. Original characters will also gradually receive new voice lines as part of the ongoing update effort.
The development team further revealed plans to expand the game’s mode offerings with upcoming additions such as a 1v1 Mode and a Zombie Mode. Another major announcement focused on player-created content, with Behaviour confirming that Dead by Daylight will support sandboxed modding in the future. A suite of creation tools is currently in development and is expected to arrive next year, allowing players to design and share custom maps, modes, and other experiences.
The event also featured a status update on the upcoming Dead by Daylight movie. Behaviour Interactive Executive Vice President Stephen Mulrooney was joined on stage by producer Jason Blum of Blumhouse Atomic Monster to discuss the project. The team confirmed that the screenplay, written by Alexandre Aja and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, has been completed. They also announced Thordur Palsson as the film’s director, with Palsson appearing on stage to discuss his approach to bringing the game’s world to the big screen.
A variety of new cosmetic collections were showcased during the celebration. The Black Banquet Collection, tied to this year’s anniversary event running from June 25 through July 16, will introduce formal-themed outfits for players. The upcoming Sunflesh Collection will add desert-inspired cosmetics as part of a future Rift.
Several crossover collections were also announced. Iron Maiden’s 50th anniversary will be celebrated with a new Eddie Legendary Outfit for The Huntress, while an Ice Nine Kills Collection will draw inspiration from the heavy metal band, which also debuted a new Dead by Daylight-themed song and music video during the event.
Existing collaborations are expanding as well. The Walking Dead Collection will add Glenn and Negan as Legendary Outfits for Rick, while a new Silent Hill Collection cosmetic will transform Cheryl into Shimizu Hinako from KONAMI’s upcoming horror title SILENT HILL f.
Closing out the reveals, Behaviour confirmed that Scooby-Doo characters will finally make their way into Dead by Daylight through a new collection, fulfilling one of the community’s most requested crossovers. The studio also announced a Diablo Collection, which is scheduled to arrive in October and will bring additional demonic-themed cosmetics into The Fog.
A decade after its launch, Dead by Daylight continues to expand its roster, gameplay systems, and collaborations, with Behaviour Interactive outlining an ambitious roadmap that stretches well beyond the game’s 10th anniversary year.
