Edge of Eternity and Edge of Memories developer Midgar Studio has shut down, according to former CEO and founder Jérémy Zeler-Mauy.

Former CEO and founder of Midgar Studio, Jérémy Zeler-Maury (via bogorad222 on Twitter/X), took to LinkedIn to reveal that the Edge of Eternity and Edge of Memories developer has shut down, as efforts to save the company fell short. He mentioned that the development team had been working until the final stages of the legal process to secure a buyer that could preserve both the business and its employees. However, no agreement could be completed before the court-imposed deadline. “I had hoped to come back here and announce that we had found an acquirer,” he said. “Unfortunately, the court has now ordered the liquidation of Midgar Studio.”

Zeler-Maury thanked current and former employees, business partners, and the community that supported Midgar Studio throughout its existence. According to him, the studio’s greatest achievement was the team behind its projects, praising their resilience through both successes and setbacks. “What began as a slightly crazy idea became eighteen years of work, creation, challenges, encounters and memories,” he stated. The developer faced financial challenges that have affected many independent game developers in recent years.

The former Midgar Studio CEO also used the announcement to advocate for its employees, encouraging developers, publishers, and recruiters to consider hiring them. “The company is closing, but their talent, experience and value remain intact,” he said. “To the studios, publishers and recruiters reading this: this team deserves your attention.”

Zeler-Maury ended his message by saying, “Midgar Studio ends here, but what we created will live on in our games, in our memories, and in everything each of us builds next.” Midgar Studio released several titles since its inception, and also worked on prototypes and unannounced projects that will never see the light of day.
