Final Big Nintendo Switch Title Rumored To Be From A Beloved But Niche Nintendo Franchise

by Muhammad Ali Bari

The final major Switch release is set to be from a beloved but niche Nintendo franchise, based on a new rumor.

During the latest episode of the XdC News podcast, co-host Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe (also known as Brazil on famiboards) was asked by fellow host Guilherme Dias if Nintendo has anything major planned for the upcoming Direct presentation in February, 2025. In response, Brazil mentioned that that the Nintendo Switch will get one final “big” game from Nintendo that is a “new version” of a beloved but “somewhat niche” franchise.

Nintendo switch niche franchise

Because of how it was mentioned during the podcast, there was some confusion as to whether the new game and the “big” game co-host Brazil had been referring to are the same or two individual titles. Brazil took to the forums to clarify that he was in fact referring to a single new game during the podcast. In other words, the game that is a “new version of a niche beloved franchise” is also the Nintendo Switch’s final “big” title.

A “new version of a niche beloved franchise” sounds like it may be a remake or a remaster. Though, given how Brazil has already clarified that it isn’t a remaster, that leaves us with the possibility of a remake. A remake of Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War is rumored to be in development. Despite the niche nature of the Fire Emblem series, it is considered to be a big deal among its fanbase. As such, a Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War remake may end u being the final “big” Nintendo Switch title Brazil is hinting at. Only time will tell whether that will be the case, however.

As always, we encourage our readers to take all rumors and speculation with a grain of salt until there is confirmation via official channels.
