Forspoken has a lot of swear words as the game is rated Mature 18+ for coarse language and other content. Details can be seen here.
Forspoken is set on the story of Frey, who is a young woman from New York. The story takes place in the fantasy world of Athia where Frey is transported and has to save the people of this world from a menacing threat.
The detailed rating description has been published by IMDA Singapore giving us an overview of all the mature content that is featured in the game. There doesn’t appear to be any major violence in the game itself, but the focus is on the coarse language.
“Forspoken” is an action role-playing game which revolves around a young woman from New York, Frey, who mysteriously gets transported to a fantasy world called Athia. When Athia is overcome by a corrupting phenomenon known as the Break, Frey must use her new-found abilities to deal with it while trying to find her way back home.
The game is rated M18 for coarse language.
Played from a third-person perspective, the player character will explore a variety of environments and encounter enemies such as mutated animals and zombies. To progress through the game, the player character can obtain items and upgrade skills, while gaining experience points by defeating enemies and completing quests. During combat, characters use physical and magical attacks on one another, without details of injury and blood effects depicted. Slain enemies disintegrate and disappear soon after impact.
Coarse language is frequently uttered by characters and seen in the English subtitles, such as the expletives “motherf**ker” and “f**k”. Other swear words used include “shit”, “hell”, “damn” and “ass”. These are allowed under a M18 rating where the Classification Guidelines permit “frequent use of strong coarse language, such as ‘motherf**ker’”.
Earlier this week, the PS5 demo of Forspoken was updated with new quality-of-life changes to bring some improvements to the game based on player feedback. The PC version has also received a detailed list of system requirements and just like Returnal, Forspoken appears to be another game that appears to demand a RAM upgrade for your PC.
If you are interested in checking it out and are hoping to see the critical reception to it, the review embargo has been set just a day before it will launch on January 24, so there won’t be a lot of time for you to make your decision in case you are interested in getting the game.
The game will launch exclusively on the PS5 and PC. The trophy list of the game has also been revealed before it launches next week and there are some interesting challenges to tackle in it. It appears to have a rather large file size so prepare your hard disk just in case.
Forspoken is being developed by Luminous Productions and will be published by Square Enix. The game also used AMD FSR technology on both PC and PS5 to offer improved visuals with optimized requirements.
