GTA 6 Confirmed To Be In Active Development According To Rockstar Games

by Ali Haider

Rockstar Games has confirmed that the GTA 6 is now in active development. This is the first official confirmation from them regarding the new GTA.

GTA 5 was released more than eight years ago, back in 2013. It has been remade and remastered for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is getting a full retouch again in time for the PS5 and Xbox Series X where it will launch on March 15.

In a blog post, Rockstar Games had detailed the changes that are being made to the upcoming GTA 5 re-release for the current-generation consoles. They listed features like ray-tracing, HDR, and 60 FPS as one of the highlights for this version.

In addition to confirming this news, Rockstar Games has also shared a statement on the next mainline entry in the GTA franchise, or in other words, GTA 6 is now in development and officially confirmed.

With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.

On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!

Based on the statement, don’t expect to see GTA 6 releasing anytime soon. It will likely launch on the current-generation consoles first followed by a PC port if the history of Rockstar Games is anything to go by.
