GTA V has been updated on PC, PS4, and Xbox One today bringing in the reduced load times in the online mode that were discovered by a fan on PC.
While Rockstar Games hasn’t shared an official changelog for this update, there are multiple reports online suggesting that the patch has fixed the load times in the GTA Online mode on PC. It doesn’t appear to do that well on PS4 or Xbox One, but that was expected since the original proof of concept fix was made for PC.
GTA V Update 1.37 Title Update 1.54 Patch Notes
Rockstar Games hasn’t shared the official patch notes for this update but what we do know so far is that the load times have been patched. The load times have been reduced by as much as 70% on PC.
However, on the console side of things, there are reports of the game now crashing on the Xbox One. It doesn’t appear to be the case for the PS4 so far, but the general sentiment is that this leads to some instability for the GTA Online mode.
If you have installed this patch on your PC, you should get an immediate boost in performance when playing the GTA Online mode. In the case of consoles, the new performance is questionable since it apparently doesn’t apply to consoles. As for the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, they benefited from the move to SSD for the story mode and initial load times but GTA Online is a different story for them as well.
