Guardians of the Galaxy is available from October 26 but the preload for the game has already begun giving an idea of its file size.
When the PC system requirements for Guardians of the Galaxy were discovered, the file size caught everyone’s attention since it was around 150 GB. Later, the developers clarified that this is not accurate and they have reduced the file size to 80 GB.
This file size is still large compared to the current-generation consoles as preload for the game is up now. According to this Twitter account, the file size of Guardians of the Galaxy is 42 GB on Xbox Series S (not Series X) and around 30 GB on the PS5. This is also almost half the size of the PS4 version, which stands at 60 GB.
This is not something new. We saw this in the past with a lot of games. Some of the most recent examples include Far Cry 6, which had a file size of 80 GB on PS4 but around 60 GB if we add the HD Textures on the PS5. It was also the case with The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes that weighed in roughly 60 GB on PS4 but nearly 40 GB on the PS5.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be out on October 26, 2021. While the file size of the PS5 version is confirmed at 31 GB, this could change if a patch is released for the game closer to launch.
