by Ali Haider

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has officially received its rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles. The game has been classified as suitable for mature audiences due to its intense content, which includes a range of violent and suggestive themes.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is an action role-playing game that immerses players in a richly detailed medieval world. Players take on the role of a protagonist driven by a personal quest to recover a stolen sword and avenge his family’s death. The game is played from a first-person perspective, allowing for a deeply engaging experience as players explore open-world environments, complete various quests, and engage in brutal melee combat against a variety of human adversaries, including soldiers, civilians, and bandits.

The combat system is characterized by its realism and intensity, with players utilizing swords, knives, crossbows, spears, and even their fists to defeat enemies. Battles are depicted with realistic sound effects, including the cries of pain, the clash of weapons, and the splattering of blood. Stealth elements are also present, allowing players to perform close-up kills by sneaking up on enemies to stab them or break their necks. The game’s environments are designed to reflect the harsh realities of the medieval setting, with scenes depicting human and animal corpses accompanied by bloodstains.

One particularly noteworthy aspect of the ESRB rating is the inclusion of a prolonged interrogation scene within the game. This sequence involves two characters torturing another in an attempt to extract information, with players given the moral choice to either end the interrogation or continue the torture. The scene, though the acts are shown off-screen, is accompanied by the sounds of screams and the use of various instruments of torture, adding to the game’s intense atmosphere.

In addition to its violent content, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II also contains sexual and suggestive material. The ESRB notes that the game features characters depicted partially nude, with exposed breasts and buttocks, and includes brief sequences where characters are shown engaging in sexual activity, either clothed or partially nude. The camera angles focus on the midsections or legs of the characters during these moments.

The game further incorporates the consumption of alcohol, with players able to drink from a first-person perspective, leading to a simulated drunken state characterized by blurred vision, swaying, and hiccupping. The use of strong language is also prevalent throughout the game, with explicit words such as “f**k” and “c*nt” appearing in the dialogue.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II will be released on February 11, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X.
