The release date for the Insomniac Games developed Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 may have potentially been revealed through a new ad.
According to a new commercial for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that has aired in Australia, the game’s release date will fall in Spring 2023 within the region. Given that Spring in Australia occurs during the months of September and November, it’s likely that the game is set for a global release during this period.
The ad in question can be seen above. It shows a short live-action sequence featuring the web-swinging hero, presented in the form of a make-believe news broadcast. The headline states “Criminals finally captured”, and both Peter Parker and Miles Morales are seen busy fighting crime in New York city.
The release window for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that is featured in the new commercial falls in line with the one previously stated by Insomniac Games on the official PlayStation Blog.
“What a year it’s been for PlayStation Studios; here at Insomniac Games we’ve been in absolute awe of the work of our peers. Congrats to everyone on a successful 2022… and here’s to next year being just as exciting as we continue to get Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ready for release next fall, ” reads a message from Bryan Intihar, the creative director at Insomniac Games.
The PlayStation Store page for the game is also up now and the title is available to add to the wishlist. This will inform any user who has the game on their wishlist when there is any update on the project.
In addition, Venom voice actor Tony Todd recently shared some interesting tidbits regarding the character’s involvement in the game. Speaking during a podcast, Todd suggested that Venom will be featured in set-pieces similar to the one’s involving Rhino in Spider-man Miles Morales. He specifically highlighted the scene where Miles is chasing down Rhino, while smashing through windows. He said that Venom’s presence will be in the same vein, likely implying that the character will be featured in a lot of similar, cinematic set-pieces.
