The oft rumored Metal Gear Solid 3 remake may end up being a PS5 exclusive, with a reveal possibly happening at the next PlayStation Showcase.
During the latest episode of The XboxEra Podcast, co-host Shpeshal Nick stated that the rumored Metal Gear Solid 3 remake may be getting revealed for the PS5 at the upcoming PlayStation Showcase event, and that it will be an exclusive in some shape or form.
With regards to exclusivity, there are a number of scenarios in which the game may be locked out from release on one or more platforms at launch. Sony and Konami may have opted to go the Final Fantasy XVI route, making the remake a timed exclusive for PS5 for a certain period of time, after which it would appear on PC, and later on Xbox. Alternatively, the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake may simply be a PlayStation console exclusive, meaning that it would appear on PC at launch and there would be no Xbox version altogether.
Nick further stated that his source isn’t 100% sure about the information regarding PlayStation exclusivity for the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. However, Windows Central’s Jez Corden corroborated the information by stating on Twitter that he had heard similar things about the game being exclusive to PlayStation.
The existence of a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is quickly becoming Sony and Konami’s worst kept secret. Recently, the voice actor for the main theme song in Metal Gear Solid 3, Donna Burke, seemingly confirmed the existence of the rumored remake. Burke shared a series of tweets from a recording-in-progress, suggesting that she may be working on a track for the rumored remake.
In one of the images shared by her, it’s possible to read the lyrics (see screenshot above) from a sheet. The aforementioned lyrics appear to be from the Metal Gear Solid 3 theme song, titled Snake Eater. This suggests that Burke may in fact be re-recording the theme song for the remake, which has bee rumored to be in development at Konami.
