New PS5 Slim Is Out In The Wild, First Real Life Photos & Closer Look At Horizontal Stand

A leaked retail unit of the PS5 slim is apparently out in the wild, and we now have the first real life photos of both the console and its horizontal stand.

Photos of the PS5 slim along with side by side comparisons with the original model are making the rounds on the internet. If you’ve been curious to know what the new PlayStation 5 version looks like outside of computer generated renders used in promotional footage, read ahead.

The above images should offer a more accurate representation of the difference in size and scale between both PS5 versions than in the previous comparison we had shared based on computer generated renders. A photograph of the PS5 Slim’s horizontal stand, or support brackets, can be seen below.

Additionally, as we had reported earlier, an internet connection is required to pair the detachable disc drive to the PS5 slim. We now have a screenshot of the message that will be displayed should you attempt to use the disc drive without first pairing it with the console (see below).

In terms of dimensions, the regular disc version of the PS5 comes in at 390 mm × 260 mm × 104 mm, while the new slim version comes in at 358 mm × 96 mm × 216 mm. Meanwhile, the digital version of the regular model is approximately 390 mm × 260 mm × 92 mm, while the new slim version of the digital edition is approximately 358 mm × 80 mm × 216 mm. In terms of mass, the regular disc version of the PS5 weighs around 4.5 kg, while the new slim version comes in at 3.2 kg. Meanwhile, the digital version of the regular model is approximately 3.9 kg, while the new slim version of the digital edition is approximately 2.6 kg.

The new PS5 model will be available starting from November, 2023 in the U.S. at select local retailers. It will continue to roll out globally in the following months. Once inventory of the existing PS5 model has been phased out, the new PS5 will become the only model available. The disc version will be available for 499.99 USD USD | 549.99 EURO | 479.99 GBP | 66,980 JPY, while the digital version will be sold for 449.99 USD USD | 449.99 EURO | 389.99 GBP | 59,980 JPY.
