Nintendo has revealed the launch date and specs for its upcoming console, Switch 2, confirming features like 120 fps, HDR, and 4K support.
During the Switch 2 Direct presentation on April 2, 2025, Nintendo shared some of the hardware specs players can expect to take advantage of on the upcoming console. In addition, the console maker reveled that its new hardware will hit store shelves on June 5, 2025.

Nintendo Switch 2 Confirmed Specs
The hardware specs for the Nintendo Switch 2 that have been confirmed thus far can be seen below.
- 4K and 1440p output resolution
- 120 Hz refresh rate
- 3D audio
- 120 Hz handheld display
- HDR handheld display
- 256 GB internal storage
- Modern SD Express card for storage expansion
- Both Joy-Cons usable as mouse
- Right Joy-Con C button used for social features
Nintendo has yet to share any details on the specifics of the Nintendo Switch 2 SoC’s CPU and GPU configuration, though it is all but confirmed to be based on the NVIDIA’ T239 chip. Additionally, no information was provided on which upscaling technologies the upcoming console will support. That said, it is likely to support both DLSS and FSR. It is alo unknown whether the 120 Hz handheld display will support Variable Refresh Rate, but it would certainly make sense for it to do so.
Furthermore, Nintendo did not share any information regarding the pricing and possible SKU configurations for the Switch 2 during the Direct presentation. Though, the console is expected to retail for $399 or more.
Back in January, 2024, Taiwain’s Economic Daily had reported that the Nintendo Switch 2 would be equipped with the NVIDIA T239 chip, 8GB RAM, a battery with greatly improved life, and a 120 Hz handheld display.
Recently, known insider and content creator eXtas1s had correctly leaked the launch window of June, 2025, for the Nintendo Switch 2. The same was mentioned by Robin Zhu of Sanford C. Bernstein, who also predicts that the console will have a launch inventory of 6 million to 8 million units.
