FCC Filing Indicates Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller Includes A Headphone Jack

The Pro controller for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console may include a headphone jack, based on an FCC filing.

The FCC listing (via)is filed by Nintendo for a game controller with the product code BEE-008. Based on the details mentioned, the controller comes with both Bluetooth and NFC as well as a headphone jack.

The controller’s product code i.e. BEE-008, follows the same naming convention  of product codes for the original Nintendo Switch  and its accessories. The letter ‘A’ stands for the console itself, the letter ‘B’ for the left Joy-Con, the letter ‘C’ for the right Joy-Con, the letter ‘D’ for the Joy-Con charging grip, the letter ‘E’ for the Pro Controller, and the letter ‘F’ for the Dock.

The battery voltage rating for this controller is different from the Switch 1 Pro Controller, indicating that it most likely has a new battery. This would mean that the CTR-003, originally found in the 3DS and currently used in Switch 1 Pro Controllers, has been discontinued.

Going by the naming convention of the product code and the battery voltage rating, it’s fair to assume that this new FCC filing is for the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. The inclusion of a headphone jack doesn’t come as a surprise, as the controller undoubtedly supports a newer Bluetooth version (at least version 5.2) in order to use Low Energy (LE) Audio.

In addition to having the option to purchase a dedicated Pro Controller, Nintendo Switch 2 users may also be able to connect the upcoming console with the original Switch, allowing the latter to be used as a dual screen controller. This was claimed by known insider and content creator extas1s. Back in September, 2024, Chris Dring, head of GamesIndustry.biz, had also heard that the console will be a dual screen type product, allowing the handheld screen and the TV to work in sync in order to deliver that sort of an experience.
