Nintendo has confirmed that the original Nintendo Switch family will be discontinued in Europe from March 2027, bringing nearly a decade of hardware sales to a close.
The company said Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model will continue to be manufactured throughout 2026 and are expected to remain widely available across Europe for the rest of the year.
From mid-February 2027, Nintendo will stop selling all three systems to European retailers. Sales of the hardware through the Nintendo Store will also end at the same time.
Nintendo noted that retail availability after that point will depend on remaining stock, advising customers to check with local retailers for future availability.
Although hardware sales are coming to an end, Nintendo confirmed that existing owners will continue to receive support. The company said players will still be able to use their games and accessories, while Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Switch Online and other online services will continue to operate “for the foreseeable future.”
According to figures shared by industry analyst Pierre485, the Nintendo Switch family had shipped more than 40 million units across Europe as of March 31, 2026, representing 25% of the console’s lifetime shipments. The analyst also noted that Europe recorded the platform’s steepest year-on-year decline during the last fiscal year.
