A Nintendo Wii build of Free Radical Design’s multiplayer shooter, Star Wars: Battlefront 3, has appeared on the internet.

A video titled “Star Wars Battlefront 3 (2008) – Wii Build Showcase” has appeared on the iamashaymin Modding YouTube channel. According to the video description, after a decade of research, the Free Radical Archive has allegedly done what was once considered impossible i.e. finding a new build of the canceled 2008 title developed by Free Radical Design.

The aforementioned new build of Free Radical Design’s Star Wars: Battlefront 3, created during the final week of development, is allegedly full of content that has not been seen before by fans. As the game was canceled during development, there are still bugs and issues that the team at Free Radical Archive aims to resolve through future modding.

The Nintendo Wii build of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 is dated just over 1 week prior to the game’s cancellation. This is potentially the last build of the game ever tested on the Wii. The trailer shown in the video recreates footage from the trailer for the PC version that was created by Free Radical Design back in November, 2008.

Additionally, Free Radical Archives mentioned that it is a small team, and those who are interested in seeing the project being developed further should consider supporting it by following the link here. All builds and mods will be available for free. Those who donate to the modding team will help it in recuperating the money it spent on getting the builds, and they will also help in supporting future research.

Building on the foundation laid by its predecessors, the canceled Star Wars: Battlefront III aimed to introduce the ability for players to seamlessly transition between ground and space battles by piloting a spaceship to take off or land during combat. Assets developed for the game were later repurposed by Rebellion Developments for Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron.
