Nintendo Is Allegedly Working On A Pikmin Spin Off

Nintendo is currently working on a new spin off based on its real-time strategy and puzzle game series, Pikmin, based on the latest rumor.

Twitter/X insider NWeedle, who is known for their reliable leaks, has claimed that the next Pikmin game will be a spin off. They further mentioned that It will stand out from the saga with a brand new gameplay element or mechanic. It is also said that the game may bring some changes to the series’ art style.

Pikmin spin off

According to the insider, the unannounced Pikmin spin off will be launched during Nintendo’s next fiscal year. They also stated that the mainline numbered Pikmin titles will continue to feature the classic real-time strategy and puzzle based gameplay that the series is known for. Universo Nintendo’s Necro Felipe responded to the tweet with an hourglass emoji, suggesting that he corroborates this information, and that it’s only a matter of time until an official announcement is made in this regard by Nintendo.

As always, we encourage our readers to take such rumors with a grain of salt until there is confirmation via official channels. That said, the possibility of a Pikmin spin off is in line with the sentiments Nintendo recently shared regarding the series. During a Q&A session on the occasion of its financial results briefing for the Fiscal Year Ending March 2024, Shuntaro Furukawa, President and Representative Director of Nintendo, termed Pikmin as a flagship IP that many consumers enjoy.

Furukawa mentioned that this year has been meaningful, both in terms of releasing a steady stream of new Nintendo titles and in terms of increasing the popularity of these kinds of series going forward. This is the first time the company had emphasized the significance of the Pikmin IP. As such, the idea of releasing a spin off title based on Pikmin in order to increase the IP’s popularity seem quite plausible.
