Fresh speculation surrounding the Infamous franchise has emerged after VGC’s Jordan Middler discussed previously hearing about a possible PlayStation project connected to the series.
Speaking during the Kinda Funny Games podcast alongside host Greg Miller, Middler elaborated on earlier comments he had made regarding Infamous and clarified that he had been told “at least at some point” that a project tied to the franchise was in development somewhere within PlayStation.
“What I know is that I was told at least at some point that an Infamous project is in development somewhere at PlayStation,” Middler said during the discussion.
He also acknowledged that the information had not been formally reported by VGC due to a lack of multiple independent sources confirming it. “This is not reported as a story on VGC because it’s not something I can stand up with two sources,” Middler explained.
According to Middler, his understanding at the time was that the project may have involved remakes of the original two Infamous games, although he stressed that this detail was implied rather than directly confirmed to him.
“When I was told about it, I fully assumed the person was referring to a remake of one and two,” he said. “That wasn’t told to me directly, but that’s very much implied.”
Middler also cautioned that the project may no longer exist internally at PlayStation, suggesting it could have been canceled or abandoned during development. “Sony could just bin it off. It might have been something that started and never got any legs or anything like that,” he added.
The comments arrive amid increasing rumors that Sony may be revisiting older PlayStation franchises. Earlier reports and insider claims have suggested the company has been exploring possible revivals involving dormant IPs such as Ape Escape, SOCOM, MotorStorm, and Sly Cooper.
The Infamous series originally debuted in 2009 through Sucker Punch Productions and became one of PlayStation’s major first-party action franchises during the PlayStation 3 era. The games centered around superpowered protagonists navigating morally driven choices in open-world city environments. The last mainline release, Infamous Second Son, launched in 2014 for PlayStation 4.
