Sony Interactive Entertainment’s recently announced PlayStation IP preservation program has received an unofficial logo.
Garrett Fredley, the senior build engineer leading the PlayStation IP preservation program, took to Twitter/X to share a brief update on the project alongside a first look at the logo. He mentioned that Sony Interactive Entertainment’s preservation journey is underway. He and his team recently had the opportunity to share their work and vision with the leadership, and he looks forward to where the project develops in the future.
“PlayStation’s preservation journey is on its way, and we’re not looking to stop anytime soon,” said Fredley. “Being able to share our vision, work, hopes and dreams with Sony leadership was a special moment for our team, and I’m excited to see where we go from here.”

The aforementioned unofficial logo for the PlayStation IP program can be seen below.

As seen above, the logo for the PlayStation IP preservation program features characters from PaRappa the Rapper, Ape Escape, Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter. According to Fredley, the graphic was actually an art project from a colleague of his who ” whipped it up for fun.” The team ended up liking it so much that it decided to make it the unofficial logo. He jokingly added that there was a small “war” within the team when deciding which games to add to it.
More details on the project were shared by Fredley last year during a GDC 2025 talk, which can be seen here. He spoke about the servers and storage systems his team relies on to preserve game builds and countless other digital materials from PlayStation’s 30-year history. He also discussed the logistical hurdles involved in maintaining the archive, as well as the importance of creating awareness about the preservation project both internally at Sony Interactive Entertainment and the industry at large.
