Pragmata Comparison Highlights PS5 Pro Performance Gains Despite Visual Trade Offs

by Salal Awan

A newly released comparison of Pragmata across platforms points to notable performance gains on PlayStation 5 Pro, though not without some visual compromises. The analysis compares the game running on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and the PS5 Pro.

The PC version leads in overall visual fidelity, running with maximum settings and path tracing enabled. On consoles, both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X offer two display modes, while PS5 Pro features a single configuration that emphasizes performance.

Between the base consoles, the PlayStation 5 shows slightly improved reflections, average resolution, and shadow quality when compared to the Xbox Series X. However, Xbox Series X maintains a consistent advantage in performance, averaging around 10 frames per second higher than PS5 across both graphics modes.

The PS5 Pro introduces ray tracing into its rendering pipeline, though this comes with reduced reflection resolution compared to the other console versions. It also operates at times with a lower dynamic internal resolution than both PS5 and Xbox Series X. Despite this, performance remains higher overall due to the use of PSSR, allowing for smoother output.

Frame rate is where PS5 Pro distinguishes itself most clearly. It is the only console version that allows an unlocked frame rate, typically ranging between 60 and 80 frames per second. This positions it as the strongest option for players prioritizing fluidity over visual consistency.

Pragmata launched on April 17, 2026, and has already surpassed 1 million copies sold within its first two days. Developed and published by Capcom, the sci-fi action adventure title is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Windows, alongside a Nintendo Switch 2 version released in most regions, with Japan following on April 24. The game is set on a lunar research station and follows astronaut Hugh and an android named Diana as they confront a rogue AI while searching for a way back to Earth.
