The latest update for Skyrim, version 1.009, also known as The Creations Update, brings in a host of new features and improvements. This update is around 586 MB on Steam and 12.92 GB on consoles. It includes support for Steam Deck and ultrawide monitors on PC. The ‘Mods’ and ‘Creation Club’ options have been combined under a single ‘Creations’ header in the main menu. Additionally, three new modder resource files have been added to help with content creation: MarketplaceTextures.bsa, _ResourcePack.bsa, and _ResourcePack.esl.
One of the key features of this update is the missing Creation check, which addresses issues related to missing Creations when loading save files. It also allows players to store their Active Load Order and retrieve it from Bethesda.net. The ESL (Elder Scrolls Language) Range has been expanded to 4096 records, and source scripts for various in-game content like Fishing, Rare Curios, Saints & Seducers, and Survival are now available for modders and creators.
The update also includes various bug fixes and stability improvements. However, it’s important to note that this update may temporarily break PC mods that require the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE), but updates to SKSE are expected soon. Players using extensive mod lists are advised to disable automatic updates on Steam or GOG to maintain their current mod setups. Tutorials for version rollbacks and maintaining mod setups are available online.
