The pre-load for Xbox Game Studios and Compulsion Games’ upcoming action-adventure game , South of Midnight, is now available, and the download size has been revealed.
South of Midnight is now available for pre-load on Xbox Series X|S and PC, and, as a result, the game’s download size has been revealed. The action-adventure game will take up a reasonable amount of storage space on the console duo and PC. That said, those with limited available space on the internal storage drive are advised to make room in advance. It goes without saying that storage expansion options are available on Microsoft’s current-gen platforms for those who need them.

Those who have pre-ordered a digital copy of South of Midnight can pre-load the game starting today, on March 24, 2025. The digital pre-load should come with the latest update pre-installed, although updates may be rolled out closer to early access launch on April 3, 2025, or full release on April 8, 2025.
The review embargo for South of Midnight is expected to be lifted close to early access launch day. While the exact time has not been confirmed, it will likely follow typical patterns, with the embargo lifting at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET / 9 AM CET.
Last month, during an interview, South of Midnight director Jasmin Roy revealed that the game targets a frame rate of 60 fps on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. He also shared that the development team had envisioned a short main story with an estimated length of 10 to 12 hours. According to him, the narrative in South of Midnight has a lot of momentum and urgency. He said that the game’s protagonist, Hazel, goes on a journey in pursuit of her mother Lacey, who got swept away by a hurricane.
