Bethesda’s upcoming action RPG, Starfield, has yet to receive an internal release date, despite the the game being fully playable.

Sources have told Windows Central’s Jez Corden that Starfield is now playable in full from start to finish, and that the game has yet be given an internal release date by the developer.

Starfield release date

Earlier, a Starfield listing on CDKeys had hinted that the game would release on March 23, 2023. This was in line with Microsoft’s statement regarding its release in the first half of the year. It was also mentioned that it would arrive ahead of Redfall, which now has a release date of May 2, 2023.

According to Corden, however, the most likely scenario here is that this date is merely a placeholder. The Bethesda Launcher, which has been offline for more than six months, is listed as the delivery method for Starfield in the CDKeys store listing. The chance that Microsoft has given retailers like CDKeys a firm launch date is extremely tiny and at odds with the information Corden has learned about Starfield’s current development status.

The release date for Starfield is still to be deterined, according to Corden’s sources. Under the condition of anonymity, these sources have informed him that Starfield is currently playable in its entirety from beginning to end. The game spans numerous star systems, making it incredibly large. As a result, the polishing effort is similarly enormous, which is likely why a concrete release date has yet to be announced by Microsoft and Bethesda.

Previously, it was also rumored that Starfield, may have been delayed to the second half of 2023. YouTuber MrMattyPlays shared his insight regarding the game’s release window. According to him, Starfield is getting delayed to the second half of 2023, though he added that it should still launch sometime this Summer. He added that his source is someone he trusts quite a bit, and that they’ve been very accurate in the past.
