Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe has announced Tales of Eternia Remastered, bringing one of the most celebrated entries in the long-running RPG franchise back to modern platforms. The remastered release is scheduled to launch on October 16, 2026, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Originally released as a fan-favorite installment in the Tales series, the game follows Reid Hershel and his childhood friend Faran Oersted, whose lives take an unexpected turn after meeting a mysterious girl who speaks a language they cannot understand. Their search for answers soon reveals a far greater threat: the impending Great Fall, a catastrophic collision between the worlds of Inferia and Celestia that could lead to the destruction of both realms.
The remaster preserves the original story and combat system while introducing a variety of enhancements aimed at modern audiences. Players will once again battle through the game’s signature Aggressive Linear Motion Battle System, which focuses on fast-paced 2D action, allowing party members to chain together powerful Artes and coordinate attacks against enemies.
Bandai Namco has also added several quality-of-life features designed to streamline exploration and progression. These include destination markers to help guide players through the adventure, an option to disable enemy encounters, and a high-speed mode that can be used during auto-battle sequences. The publisher says these additions are intended to make the experience more accessible for newcomers while offering added convenience for returning fans.
Another notable feature is the ability to switch between the game’s updated presentation and its original visuals and audio settings. This allows players to choose between the remastered version and a presentation that more closely resembles the original release.
Tales of Eternia Remastered will be available digitally on all announced platforms when it launches on October 16, 2026. Physical editions are also planned for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
