Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive’s third-person shooter hack-n-slash game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and if you’re on the fence about which version to pick up, read ahead.

The game offers 2 display modes on PS5, Xbox Series X i.e. Quality and Performance. As one would expect, Quality mode prioritizes higher graphical fidelity, which is more prominently noticeable in the higher quality shadows, reflections, textures, and physics of fabrics and water. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version only offers one display mode, which exhibits some visual cutbacks from the PS5 and Xbox Series X version in Performance mode, especially in terms of vegetation and ambient occlusion. On PC, with a capable system, it is possible to run Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 with no graphical compromises and get a better visual experience over the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

In terms of image quality, the PS5 and Xbox Series X run Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 at a native resolution of 1440p in Quality mode. In Performance mode, both consoles run the game at a native resolution of 1080p. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S runs the game at a native resolution of 1080p in its only display mode. On the other hand, it’s possible to run the game at native 4K (2160p) on capable PC hardware.

With regards to performance, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 target a frame rate of 30 fps in Quality mode and 60 fps in Performance mode. The frame rate is unstable during stressful instances in Performance mode on both consoles, though Xbox Series X exhibits an advantage over the PS5 in these moments. The PC version, on the other hand, is able to deliver stable performance on capable systems, and can run at frame rates above 60. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version targets a frame rate of 30 fps in its only available display mode.

On the whole, the PC version of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is the ideal way to play the game, while the best possible console experience is on Xbox Series X.
