Nintendo has confirmed that Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country will receive a free Nintendo Switch 2 update on July 30, bringing visual and performance enhancements to both physical and digital owners of the standalone expansion.

According to the publisher, the update will enable gameplay at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second when played in TV mode on Nintendo Switch 2. Handheld mode will support 1080p resolution at 60fps. The upgrade will be available at no additional cost for players who own the standalone physical or digital versions of Torna – The Golden Country.

Nintendo also clarified how the upgrade will work for players who access the expansion through the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Expansion Pass. Those users will not receive the free update automatically and will instead need to purchase the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack to gain access to the enhanced version of the content.

The announcement follows the recent launch of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, which introduced support for up to 4K resolution, 60fps gameplay, and additional content enhancements. Nintendo previously confirmed that the remaining entries in the trilogy would also receive Nintendo Switch 2 Editions.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is scheduled to launch digitally on July 30, the same day Torna – The Golden Country receives its free update. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is set to follow later this year on December 3.
