The pre-order date for the OLED Nintendo Switch version that is officially themed after The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may have been leaked.
A Reddit user has spotted that retail stores have a new Nintendo Switch SKU set to be available for pre-order on the date of March 10, 2023, in their database, suggesting that it may be The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom OLED model.
While it may end up being another Nintendo Switch SKU, the timing of availability for pre-order suggests that it is more likely to be The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom edition of the console.
Previously, the download size for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was revealed after Nintendo updated the eShop store page for the game. As it turns out, this is the largest file size of any first-party game for the Nintendo Switch. Of course, bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better, but we’re inclined to believe that will be the case here. It’s worth noting that the file size likely does not include any DLC that will be available at launch or soon after.
It was also reported that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may just be the Nintendo Switch’s swan song, as the console maker prepares for the next generation. Based on what VGC’s Andy Robinson had heard, he estimated that Nintendo will start talking about its next generation console by 2024, and he wasn’t convinced that another huge first-party game other than The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is left on the Nintendo Switch.
Tears of the Kingdom is the latest action-adventure game in The Legend of Zelda series that is developed and published by Nintendo. It is the follow-up to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017), and will be available on the Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.
